What is HKGX

About the Hong Kong Gold Exchange

The Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX) is the only trading exchange for gold and silver in Hong Kong. It has been restructured into a corporate framework from the "Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society," which boasts a rich history of over 115 years. HKGX officially commenced operations on January 1, 2025. As it embarks on this new chapter, HKGX remains dedicated to unlocking the value of gold while serving the local market with integrity, transparency, and excellence.

A Rich History

HKGX currently consists of 137 exchange members, providing a comprehensive range of venues, facilities, and services for participants engaged in precious metals trading. This is accompanied by a significant increase in daily trading volume reaching billions of Hong Kong dollars.

From January 1, 2025, HKGX inherits the legacy of the Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society, marking the continuation of Hong Kong’s only physical trading venue for gold and silver. Embracing the motto "Inheriting a Century of Heritage, Expanding Golden Opportunities," HKGX aims to build upon its predecessor's rich history while paving the way for future growth to unlock the value of gold.
