Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX) is Hong Kong’s sole spot gold and silver exchange. It was established through the corporatized restructuring of the Chinese Gold& Silver Exchange Society(CGSE), a historic institution with over 115 years of legacy. Officially launched on January 1, 2025, HKGX marks a new chapter in Hong Kong's precious metals industry. HKGX remains committed to unlocking the value of gold while serving the local market with integrity, transparency, and excellence service.

A Legacy Story

HKGX is currently formed by 141 exchange shareholder members, and offers comprehensive facilities, services and trading platform for participants in precious metals trading. The Exchange has experienced significant growth, with daily trading volumes reaching hundreds of billions of Hong Kong dollars

Since January 1, 2025, HKGX has inherited the legacy of the Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange,representing the ongoing operation of Hong Kong’s sole physical spot gold and silver exchange. Guided by the motto “A Century of Legacy, Shaping the Future of Gold Opportunities,” HKGX seeks to build upon its rich historical foundation to pave the way for future growth and unlock the value of gold.

Core Functions
  • Provide trading platforms and related services for members engaged in gold, silver, and precious metal trading. 
  • Develop and implement rules and regulations to standardize trading activities. 
  • Supervise the trading process, including settlement and delivery arrangements. 
  • Design trading contracts and ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Implement a risk management system to reduce market risks. 
  • Set and announce settlement prices, and disseminate important market information.
  • Monitor all transactions and enforce disciplinary measures against any behavior that violates established rules.
  • Execute additional functions as designated by the Executive Members and the Executive and Supervisory Committee.
